Salsa is committed to building the most flexible, powerful embedded payroll infrastructure – and this month’s release is no exception. From giving platforms more control over employer data to streamlining onboarding and check printing, we’re continuing to invest in tools that reduce friction and let you move faster.
Here are the latest updates.
More control over employer data capture in Paystream
We’ve expanded our Paystream API to support collection of employer identification fields directly from your system, including:
- Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN) for U.S. employers
- Business Number (BN) for Canadian employers
- Legal Name
With these additions, your platform can now serve as the source of truth for these key data points. This simplifies onboarding by eliminating double data entry and ensures your product stays in control. More details here.

Add workers directly in the employer onboarding flow
Some platforms aren’t the system of record for worker data – and that’s okay.
You can now enable a built-in “add worker” feature within the employer onboarding component. This lets employer users input their workers during onboarding without requiring a separate setup step.
This update helps partners who don’t yet manage worker records directly, but still want to offer a streamlined path to payroll setup.
If you’d like to enable this for your onboarding flow, contact us and we’ll turn it on for you.

Improved localization for Canadian employers
We’ve updated a number of terms across our embedded components to better support Canadian employers.
- These updates roll out automatically for all users of Salsa’s embedded components.
- No developer work required.
We're continuing to invest in building the most robust and flexible UI components – so you can focus on your product, not translation strings.

Check printing support now in beta
Need to print checks? We’ve got you covered.
We’ve added support for pre-printed check stock (DLT159 format) directly in the payroll run workflow. This is a U.S.-only beta feature for now, and it’s already available within our embedded components.
- No developer work required
- Employers can set preferences in a new UI
- Paper check printing becomes available once a payroll run is confirmed
This is especially helpful for employers with larger worker bases who need to streamline their payroll distribution.
If you’d like to join the beta, let your integration contact know.
