October Payroll Enhancements: Accelerating Employer Onboarding and Boosting Operational Efficiency

This month, we’re rolling out updates designed to speed up employer onboarding and improve your platform's efficiency. These enhancements aim to remove obstacles in payroll setup, delivering a faster, smoother experience for both employers and your team.

Simplified Employer Debit Authorization Process

We’ve optimized the process for adding new bank accounts and signing debit authorizations, making it easier for employers during onboarding and whenever they need to update their bank details. These improvements are now part of the Employer Profile and Employer Onboarding components.

The updated user interface ensures a seamless experience, allowing employers to sign authorizations quickly without extra development effort. Once signed, the authorizations are automatically stored in the employer document center, making them easily accessible for audits or future reference. If your platform uses the Employer Document component, no additional setup is needed—debit authorizations will be automatically visible to employers.

Additionally, we’ve introduced a new notification event which allows your platform to notify employers once a payment authorization is completed. This feature is especially important for compliance with Canadian regulations, such as Pre-Authorized Debit (PAD) agreements, ensuring that employers are promptly informed about authorization updates. The new event name is:

Notification.EmployerBankAccount.paymentAuthorizationCompleted

By streamlining this critical step, Salsa reduces friction and handles the heavy lifting to ensure payroll providers stay compliant with strict banking regulations.

Instant Employer Bank Verification Powered by Plaid

We’re excited to introduce instant bank verification for employers through our partnership with Plaid, a trusted leader in the banking ecosystem. This seamless, out-of-the-box integration allows employers to connect and verify their bank accounts in seconds, eliminating the need for manual verification methods like micro-deposits.

Integrated directly with Salsa Express, this solution lets you continue using Salsa’s Employer Onboarding and Employer Profile components without the need to build custom workflows. The integration requires zero developer effort and is ready to go from day one, enabling a quick, secure, and on-brand verification experience while maintaining your platform's look and feel.

If you’re interested in enabling Plaid for your account, reach out to your account manager for assistance. This partnership transforms payroll onboarding, offering your platform unmatched speed, simplicity, and seamless compliance.

New Restricted Accounts View for Faster Issue Resolution

To boost operational efficiency, we’ve added a Restricted Accounts View to the dashboard, providing your customer success teams with quick access to key data for employers whose accounts are restricted.

New tab available in the Salsa Dashboard

Restrictions can occur due to debit failures, manual review flags triggered by our risk engine, or requests for extra information. The new view offers real-time insights into restricted accounts, helping your team quickly understand the cause and address issues to restore accounts to good standing.

Pairing this feature with Single Sign-On (SSO) further enhances your team’s ability to manage employer accounts seamlessly, making it quicker to access data in the Salsa dashboard and improving support outcomes.

Expanded Employer Contact Management via Paystream API

Our Paystream API now supports employer contact methods, making it easier to synchronize employer communication channels. The enhanced API can manage contact information, such as email addresses and phone numbers, enabling seamless embedded Level 1 (L1) support and concierge services.

With the flexible Upsert operation, setting contact data is simple: you can provide the information during employer creation or update it later by sending only the contact methods in response to webhook events. For more details, see the defaultContactMethod in the Import Employer Paystream API documentation.
